Holiday Havoc by Underground Pixel

(4.7/5) Holiday Havoc for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is a holiday-themed arcade game featuring Santa Clause. Holiday Havoc has amazing retro-styled graphics and music, and enjoyable gameplay. You control Santa by tapping the screen where you want to launch a snowball to. You must use these snowballs to stop evil nutcrackers and teddy bears, while avoiding hitting any elves. The game is very fun, and will be great for your family to play during this Winter, and even during the other seasons too! Holiday Havoc will be available on December 1st for $0.99.

Minions by Villain LLC

(4.6/5) Minions by Villain LLC is an enjoyable first-person shooter with amazing graphics. You control a mad scientist whose minions are trying to gain power by overthrowing him. The main character is controlled with a virtual joystick, and shooting/aiming is managed by a virtual joystick on the opposite side of the movement stick. The graphics are in beautiful retina-display 3D, and the music is non-existent except for the main menu. Overall, Minions is a good FPS for people new to the genre. However, if you are a hardcore FPS player, I would pass. Minions is available on the App Store for $0.99 http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id444404817?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

Genesis of War by Krehol Games

(4.2/5) Genesis of War for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is a side-scrolling shoot-em up game. You control a special forces unit that has been sent to the foreign planet Zeebos. The controls aren't the best I've seen on an iOS game, but they work they way they are supposed to. The graphics are okay, with non-animated sprites as the characters and enemies. However, the soundtrack is great, and makes the game more enjoyable. The gun upgrade system provides some help on the more difficult levels in the game. Genesis of War is a great time-waster. I found myself playing the game for a long time before stopping, and in my opinion, Genesis of War is worth the $1.99 asking price. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gow/id462030771?mt=8

iSplitGas by Creative Ethers

(3.4/5) iSplitGas for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is a utility app that can help you save money. In the app, you can enter in your average MPG, distance driven, price of gas, # of passengers, and the final result of how much each passenger owes you. The user interface is very simple, with one screen with a background, which helps the app aesthetically. There is also a screen with settings, and a spot to leave your feedback on the app. Overall, this is a good app to have if you own a car and use it a lot. The app is completely free, so why not check it out? http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/isplitgas/id458013733?mt=8

Mage Gauntlet by Rocketcat Games

(4.9/5) Mage Gauntlet for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is a retro-styled action RPG. In the game, you control Lexi, a young girl with a curse that prevents her from using magical items and spells. She travels to a wizard named Whitebeard's tower to find a way to cure herself. The wizard provides her with a magical gauntlet that allows her to finally use magic, a sword, a cloak, and a ring. You must guide Lexi on her quest to save the land from the evil lord Hurgoth. The game has 16-bit graphics, similar to games from the series, "The Legend of Zelda." The environments are detailed and fun to explore and discover secrets. The developers really paid attention to the controls, with a joystick that appears wherever you tap on the screen, and disappears when you lift your finger from the screen. There is a button for attacking and dashing, and spells have a special menu in which you can choose what spell to use. Overall, Mage Gauntlet is one of the best action RPGs out there. The game is full of action and plenty of levels, and is definitely worth the $1.99 it is on sale for. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mage-gauntlet/id460697573?mt=8

There are a variety of squids to choose from, and each squid has unique abilities to help defeat enemies. The graphics are vivid and amazingly detailed, and the menus are easy to navigate. Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD by Crescent Moon Games

(4.9/5) Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad is a 3D RPG. The graphics in Aralon are absolutely amazing. The landscape is detailed, and NPCs have details even on their facial features. The controls are pretty standard, with a virtual joystick, and two buttons for attacking and defending. The storyline is a good one, but Aralon allows you to freeroam, or explore the lands while ignoring your quests. For $4.99, Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD is not a game you want to miss. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/aralon-sword-and-shadow-hd/id399045373?mt=8
